That is to help those that are ‘ organizationally-challenged’ put away the items where they belong. Yes, you read that correctly… I have labels on my shelves. All the lids are in one place, on one shelf and are easy to find. I can take the whole basket out and rummage through it to get the right lid and I don’t have to empty the cupboard while doing it. I also have a very cool organizing product that I love: it is a wired basket that separates the lids from the containers and helps me stack them easily in my cupboard. Fortunately, Rubbermaid containers have all of these and are BPA-free. What I do have are storage containers that are durable, can be washed in the dishwasher and are safe to place in a microwave. Those containers go directly into the recycling bin. Those containers serve a purpose but storing your leftover food is not one of them. Mainly, you want to keep your food safe and tasty. They are flimsy, may leak and when you heat them they may melt (and you want to avoid that catastrophe). Why? First of all because none of these containers were meant to be frozen or put into a microwave in addition, they may not be BPA-free. What I don’t have is margarine, sour cream or yoghurt containers. Don’t be afraid to get rid of unused storage containers.
